Our Short Breaks service

Action for Children staff and service users at the Bailgate Lawns, Lincoln

For over 20 years, Disability Lincolnshire have been providing short breaks services to disabled children and their families. We work with other agencies and professionals to ensure disabled children and their families are getting the support they need, when they need it.

"We work with disabled children and their families to understand what they need and what they want. It's about making their short breaks a positive experience for everyone involved. Taking a 'whole family' approach to service design and delivery helps ensure children and families benefit together."

Disability Lincolnshire are contracted by Lincolnshire County Council to deliver various targeted services across the county, as they understand that for some children and young people with disabilities it is not appropriate for them to only access universal services.

The children and young people may have more complex needs or have other issues which mean universal services are often difficult to attend, so our short breaks service is specifically aimed at children with disabilities and/or a sensory impairment.

The aim of our short breaks service is to increase the levels of short breaks. You can read the Local Authority Short Break service statment by following this link.

Short breaks activity sessions will vary in each setting and are decided from what parents/carers, and the children and young people accessing the services, state that they enjoy and value at these sessions. All short breaks activities can be seen on our interactive map, so please have look to see what is currently available near to you.
