Parenting programmes

Parenting programmes

We offer a range of parenting programmes to families looking for additional help with managing their children's behaviour.

We're here to help you learn how to support your children in all areas of their development.

We have the following parenting programmes available:

  • The Incredible Years Pre-school group programme for parents of children aged 3-6 years (14 weeks)
  • The Incredible Years School Age group programme for parents of children aged 6-12 years (12 weeks)
  • The Incredible Years group programme for parents of children aged 6 to 12 with a diagnosis of ADHD (18 weeks)

Families need to fulfil the criteria to be considered for the programmes.  This can be found in the "referrals"  page of the web site

These courses aim to help you feel more confident in dealing with your child's behaviour by building up a store of ideas, skills and techniques for coping.

Feedback from a parent who has recently competed a programme 'initially was referred through a process of getting a referral to a community paediatrician, and anxious about a group delivery, but as the course has gone I am now feeling that there has been benefit to my parenting skills, and I feel more confident I am using positive strategies’

You will explore how to enjoy playing and spending time with your child and discover ways of encouraging positive behaviours.

We will help you find ways of handling misbehaviour in an appropriate and effective way.

In turn, we hope your relationship with your child will improve and they will benefit from greater social skills and a happier, more contented outlook.

If you are interested in attending one of the parenting programmes we offer, please contact a health professional such as your health visitor, GP, school nurse, family outreach worker or pastoral care who can complete a referral form for you. Alternatively, you can self refer.  Please contact us for more information.
