We run employability programmes for young people throughout Scotland, training and supporting them and helping them secure and retain employment.

Employability fund stage 2

A 12 week programme focusing on personal development, essential/core skills (SCQF Level 3 Qualification) and introductory work experience to develop core skills and increase work readiness.

Employability fund stage 3

A 10 week programme to enhance employability skills, develop vocational/sector-specific skills (SCQF Level 4 Qualification) and provide practical workplace experience. It also includes industry-led training/accreditation including core training/certification required to enter the construction sector.

Employability fund stage 4

A 4 week construction programme providing industry standard training/qualifications and 'real work' experience leading to full time employment.

Youthbuild

4 week programme offering construction accredited certificates: CSCS Card, SQA Level 4 – Construction, and many more. It also includes personal development/employability workshops and a 4 week work placement with a construction company leading to full time employment.

Transitions

An intensive support service for young people who have been looked after at home or looked after and accommodated by Social Work Services. Transitions supports appropriate training and/or providing quality employment opportunities across various employment sectors. Support by a dedicated keyworker is offered to overcome the barriers into employment and training.

Schools programme

The schools programme targets those who are disengaged or excluded from school prior to their official school leaving date. Practical based construction assignment within the local community, learning practical and employability skills.

Pre-employability

Intensive support to those who are looking for work by sourcing appropriate training and/or providing quality employment opportunities across various employment sectors. It includes personal development and industry specific training over an intensive 4 week period and ongoing support from keyworker.

Re-gen

This programme is aimed at those who require certificated training to enable entry to the job market. Bespoke programmes are developed in partnership with employers to ensure young people have the necessary skills, training and certification to enter a specific industry.

Reach out

This programme aims to address inequalities faced by care experienced young people by raising their educational attainment and employability aspirations. It provides young people with work related certification and vocational qualifications to instil self-esteem, self-belief and encourage ongoing participation in further education, training and learning opportunities.

Skills

A short personal development programme, aimed at supporting young people to progress them into opportunities in training, education and employment. A key worker supports the young people to help them overcome previous and ongoing barriers which may be stopping them entering the job market. It includes sessions/support with independent travel, opening bank accounts, healthy living, CV, employability workshops and work taster sessions.

Get on track (DKH Partnership)

The flagship programme from the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust. It is a 14 month personal development programme that supports young people that are not in education, employment or training. Delivered with World Class athletes, there are opportunities to participate in sport, volunteering, training and employability workshops.

Positive choices plus

It focuses on building young people's self-esteem and ambition levels. It helps them to develop the skills, capacity and resilience needed to secure and sustain positive outcomes and to be successful in their future lives and employment. It provides early intervention through clear pathways from school and into positive destinations.

Community jobs Scotland

Action for Children creates real job opportunities across our services in Scotland for young people who have had challenging and difficult backgrounds. Our projects are supported to create new opportunities for young staff that are designed to meet their strengths and will enable them to flourish with guidance, support and nurturing.
