Youthbuild

Youthbuild is a construction based programme aimed at 16-19 year olds in Edinburgh who have faced some barriers to entering employment.

What is the Youthbuild programme?

The programme is delivered in our training centre over a 4 week period.

Youthbuild works to tackle the underlying issues that might be preventing you from entering and sustaining employment and capitalises on opportunities available.

Through a supported approach you can gain qualifications, experience and secure employment within the construction industry.

Support can last up to nine months depending upon your individual needs.

What will you get out of it?

You will gain the following construction accredited certificates:

  • CSCS – Labourer Card
  • SQA level 4 - Health and safety in a construction environment
  • Work at height
  • PASMA (Aluminium tower scaffolding)
  • UKATA CAT A – Asbestos awareness
  • Manual handling
  • Small plant and tools
  • Vehicle reversing marshall
  • Abrasive wheels

Participants will also benefit from a range of personal development and employability workshops including drugs/alcohol, offending, money skills/budgeting, sexual health, CVs, interview techniques, team work and presentation skills, employers expectations and independent travel.
