Volunteer Project Support

The Role

We are looking for volunteers who would like to provide practical support at our project office. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Answering the telephone, directing calls or taking messages
  • General office tasks such as filing, scanning, sorting post and photocopying
  • Basic IT tasks such as word processing inc. letter writing and data entry on to spreadsheets
  • Preparing materials for families (e.g. introductory packs)

Skills required for this role

We are looking for people who can appreciate that all children and young people deserve the right to be included in sessions and acknowledge this may require additional support for some of them to do this.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Have a friendly and approachable attitude, and be able to work as part of a team
  • Basic office skills with a good attention to detail, or a willingness to learn!
  • A basic understanding of disability, safeguarding and confidentiality.
  • Reliability, A regular commitment (whether this be one evening a month or more).

Because we work with children and vulnerable young people, we will need to take up appropriate references and arrange for you to have a Criminal Records (DBS) check, which we will pay for.

 

Volunteer Children's Assistant

The Role

To be linked to a child/young person with a disability, either on a one-to-one basis or to join in with group activities appropriate to their age, thus enabling parents/carers to have a break from their caring role.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting staff in the setting up, running and tidying away of activities.
  • To welcome, support and interact with the children during the activities.
  • To take an active role in activities such as Art and Craft, sport, cooking and sensory activities.

Skills required for this role

We are looking for people who can appreciate that all children and young people deserve the right to be included in sessions and acknowledge this may require additional support for some of them to do this.

  • A calm and patient approach, whilst a visible enthusiasm to take part and engage with the activity.
  • A understanding of disability, safeguarding and confidentiality.
  • Reliability, A regular commitment (whether this be one evening a month or more).
