How we listen to children

Action for Children is committed to embedding children and young people’s participation in all that we do.

We listen to children and young people and involve them in defining the issues they face and in finding solutions to help them achieve their full potential. This ensures that our services meet the needs of the individual. It also gives a child or young person influence over their situation and helps them to develop greater self-confidence and self-esteem.

Our domiciliary care services apply the following rights when delivering services to children young people:

  • To be looked after by kind, reliable and trustworthy adults
  • To be protected and to feel safe
  • To have things properly and clearly explained, and for people to be honest
  • To be treated fairly and equally, with respect and in a dignified manner
  • To have privacy
  • To know about any plans that are made about you, and to be consulted
  • To complain, and to know that any complaint you make is taken seriously and dealt with quickly
  • To be happy
  • To say no
  • If you are sad or worried about things, to tell us.
