Flying Start

Flying Start is a Welsh Government targeted Early Years programme for families with children under 4. It aims to make a difference to some of the most deprived areas of Wales, with support allocated by postcode.

The programme includes options known to give children and their families a better start in life:

• free, quality part-time childcare for 2-3 year olds
• an enhanced Health Visiting service
• access to parenting programmes
• Early Language Development
• Family support.

In Powys

In Cynnal Plant Powys we deliver a 6-12 week family focused service working alongside our colleagues in Health, which involves the whole family to improve outcomes for the children. We provide bespoke packages of care to individual families, adapting support to meet their needs and circumstances.

Where necessary we also work with Flying Start childcare settings/groups to improve outcomes for Flying Start children.

We offer practical support, including in the community, whilst also supporting the development of groups, health educating activities and parenting programmes.
