Incredible Years

Incredible Years® groups are run throughout Powys to enable parents to share their skills and experiences, and to learn from other parents.

The groups provide structured courses which focus on issues arising in the different age groups (0-6 months, 1-3 years, 3-6 years and 6-11 years).

Programmes are run over 8-14 weekly sessions, with topics ranging from playing with your baby and encouraging language development, to establishing sleep routines and reducing unwanted behaviour.

Parents/carers should contact the co-ordinators on the phone numbers at the bottom of this page to express their interest in attending a course, and to complete a Registration Form.

Your Incredible Baby

(Incredible Years® Parent and Infant Programme)

• For parents and babies under 6 months old at start of the course, with a focus on child's 1st year of life.
• 9 weekly sessions including introductory session (2 hours each week).
• The programme covers ways to promote your baby's social, emotional and language development.

Your Incredible Toddler

(Incredible Years® Parent and Toddler Programme)

• For parents of toddlers aged 1–3.
• 14 weekly sessions including introductory session (2 hours each week).
• The programme covers toddler safety; social, emotional and language development; praising positive behaviours; and strategies for handling difficult behaviour.
• A crèche is available.

Your Incredible Child (3-6 years) Basic

(Incredible Years® Parent and Child Programme)

• For parents of children aged 3-6.
• 15 weekly sessions including introductory session (2 hours each week).
• The programme covers child directed play and coaching skills; praise and rewards; positive discipline routines and effective limit setting; handling misbehaviour; and teaching children to problem solve.
• A crèche is available.

Your Incredible Child (6-12 years) School Age

(Incredible Years® Parent and Child Programme)

• For parents of children aged 6-12.
• 13 weekly sessions including introductory session (2 hours each week)
• The programme covers supporting your child's education, promoting positive behaviours, and reducing inappropriate behaviours.
