Edwardo's story - Community Jobs

Edwardo was recruited through Community Jobs Scotland funding as a Business Support Officer within the Employability Service.

Low self-esteem

When referred he had been unemployed for 6 months and had low self-esteem and confidence.

A staff member recalls "my memory of him in those early days was that he was one of the quietest and shyest boys I had ever met".

Further opportunities

After successful completion of the 6 month Community Jobs Scotland funded post Edwardo was offered a further 6 months extension within the finance team of the service.

From there he progressed to full time employment and has been an integral member of the team since.

Edwardo says that his best bits have been building his skills and experience, supporting a team of staff to the benefit of service users, meeting new people and forging new friendships and earning money.

He has now been employed by Action for Children for 5 years.
