Ewan's story - Transitions

Ewan's story - Transitions

Ewan is a care experienced young person who has struggled to find a career that he is keen to continue with.

He has been through several programmes including the Princes Trust. In June 2016 he was referred to Launchpad, a training course specifically for care experienced delivered by the council. However, he failed to complete this programme and was referred back to the project.

Ewan has since chosen to pursue a career in social care but not have the relevant qualifications.

Applying for courses

Transitions staff supported Ewan to apply for core skills at college which he is now attending to gain his Level 4 Communications, Numeracy and IT qualifications to allow him to apply for college courses in the future.

Ewan was supported to apply for the Barclays Best Foot Forward Fund and we were able to purchase a personal computer for his studies.

Interest in care work

Ewan showed a keen interest in care work.

He was supported to apply for a Stage 3 training course through Jobs and Business Glasgow in January 2017 and was successful in gaining a place on this programme.

Ewan has completed his training, gaining his First Aid, Infection Control and Moving and Handling certificates and is currently on a placement where he supports young people with learning difficulties and is really enjoying this.

Ewan hopes to be offered permanent employment.
