Healthy Lives Award

Healthy Lives Award

What we have been working on for a healthier us!

We have been working with Nicola Goldsborough from Camden for the past year on achieving our Healthy Lives Award.

We have done by adopting a Healthy eating centre – this includes the snacks we offer, what cooking sessions the children do, even the party food we have. Through doing this we have created some policies – Healthy Eating, Packed Lunch and Physical activity – all of which you can find in our Parent information section on this website. We also created a Healthy Recipe database which makes it easier to plan what we could be eating and enjoying next.

The staff have also been receiving training such as: Healthy Eating, Safe Knife Sills, Smoking Cessation, Level 2 Food Hygiene for support staff and team leaders, and the Coordinator has completed a Level 3 in Management of Food Hygiene.

We plan our snacks, cooking activities around our policy, we also only provide water to drink – no squash or juice. We plan in physical activities such as trampoline, football, dance, swimming, riding bikes, PE circuits, Active Travel- walking to our trips or if possible the child/young person walking to their session with a member of support staff.

Staff are also following these guidelines with their own lunch as we role model and eat with the children.

From all of this positive change it has led us to achieve our Healthy Lives Award in March 2017!!
